Nomination process
16. How do groups
get to be considered?
Groups must be nominated, for example by beneficiaries of their
work, members of the public, or representatives of public bodies.
When nominating a group, the nominator must provide a testimonial,
and statements from two ‘supporters’.
17. Why can’t
groups nominate themselves?
Because we want to hear from people who can report independently
on the effect of a group's work on the community. In any case, we
doubt many groups would feel comfortable about putting themselves
forward.
18. Who can act as
a nominator?
Anyone except the following:
- anyone who is involved
in running the group;
- a partner or relative
of anyone involved in running it;
- a volunteer with the
group.
19. Who can act as
a supporter?
Two supporters are needed. They must not be involved in running
the group, or be a partner or relative of anyone running it. A volunteer
with the group, or a beneficiary of its services may be a supporter,
but if so, the other supporter must be completely independent of
the group.
20. How are nominations
made? Nominations must be submitted by post The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, c/o Consolidated, 22 Endell Street, London WC2H 9AD. The form can be obtained by:
21. Can I submit
my nomination ‘on line’?

in person.
22. What if I need
help in completing the form?
No problem! Just ring The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service Office
on 0207 781 2397 and we’ll be pleased to help.
23. When is the closing date for nominations?
There are no deadlines for the receipt of nomination forms but your group will be considered for the award in the year following its nomination.
